Today we have Phella’s new mixtape Gimme A Second I Swear. I wanted to listen to the full mixtape before I made the post about it so with that said, it is going to be something you want to listen to. The production is smooth and the lyricism by Phella is so so real.

With this project Gimme A Second I Swear, Phella teams up with long time friend and Maryland based producer J. Rob to take you into his world over the past 6 months while touching on everything from relationships to his departure from The Famous Firm. They’ve also called on New York City Mixtape DJ, DJ Laser, to assist in the branding of the project. Phella plans to merge his Da Fam Music imprint with a parent company over the next few months that will serve as a distributor and financier for tours, videos, cross marketing and more.

“I feel the way Kanye must have felt when no one would acknowledge his rapping. It was just like “make us beats and shut up”. For me I get recognition for doing all these other things but people don’t realize I do all that just so I can afford to make music. Music does so much for me that no other career can do. I’m a creative person and it allows me to exercise that. It allows me to compete. Most importantly it’s a way for me to share my stories for others to relate to and learn from.
